Island Film Society Information
This year’s film program is being held at Cinecenta on the University of Victoria campus.
The ticket prices and dates are TBA.
There is a one-time fee of $2 to become a member of the Island Film Society. This membership is required to attend the film festival. With this single registration, complete access to the weekend’s film programs is established. Let us explain. The law requires that to view these unclassified films, those in attendance must be over 18 years of age and be registered members of a film society. Because of the special nature of the films shown in this festival—films that are outside of the safest ratings—the British Columbia Film Classification board requires this procedure.
Film Submissions
The Victoria Erotica Arts Festival is pleased to announce it is now open for Film and Video submissions for the May 1-4, 2008 festival.
Submission postmark deadline is March 1st 2008.
The Victoria Erotica Arts Festival is primarily a short film festival concentrating on works ranging from 1 minute to 30 minutes. However, work of exceptional merit up to 44 minutes (a "broadcast hour") will be considered for a special showing.
The festival welcomes submissions that emphasize the varieties of personal and cultural erotic tastes. We encourage films that have a unique artistic vision, exploring the entire sensual and sexual range of erotic expression. Themes that will be given special consideration include:
- Films that reflect aspects of spirituality in erotica
- Visions of women's erotic experience
- Films with a strong comedic tone
- Gay & Lesbian erotic perspectives
- Experimental films that push the edges of eroticism
- Submissions incorporating new media and multimedia, including Internet and interactive expressions of eroticism
We are interested, however, in all expressions of eroticism and selections will primarily be based on the aesthetic merit of the submission regardless of theme or subject.
An "Erotica 2008 Audience Award" will be given on the final day to the film determined by the votes of those attending to be their favorite.
